DR. BRENÉ BROWN
KEYNOTE ADDRESS – DARING LEADERSHIP:
THE FOUR PILLARS OF COURAGE
Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of
Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené
Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work.
She has spent the past 16 years studying courage, vulnerability,
shame and empathy and is the author of four #1 New York Times
bestsellers – The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising
Strong and Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging
and The Courage to Stand Alone.
Brown’s TED talk – The Power of Vulnerability – is one of the
top five most viewed TED talks in the world with over 30 million
views. In addition to her research and writing, she is the founder
and CEO of BRAVE LEADERS INC. – an organization that
brings evidence-based courage building programs to teams, leaders
and organizations.
In her keynote address at #HRPAAC, Brown argues that
courage is an irreducible element of successful strategy and culture
change efforts, and it’s a prerequisite for any meaningful and
lasting leadership development approach. Regardless of how an
organization measures success, you can’t get there without brave
leaders. Across organization type, size, and mission – small entrepreneurial
start-ups, family-owned businesses or Fortune 100
companies – leaders are asking the same questions: “How do you
cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the
value of courage in your culture?”
Brown will teach the audience how courage is taught, developed
and measured. She’ll explore the four foundational skill sets
of courage – vulnerability, clarity of values, trust and rising skills,
as well as the role of courage and discomfort in authentic leadership.
She’ll let you in on how fear, blame and scarcity sabotage our
work and relationships, as well as provide actionable strategies for
leaning into discomfort and embracing vulnerability as a source of
courageous leadership.
Attend Dr. Brené Brown’s keynote address at HRPA’s Annual
Conference and Trade Show, Jan. 31 at 4:30 p.m., sponsored by
Great-West Life.
